#Euro hits two-year high against Sing$ #currency #Singapore

LOVERS of French holidays or Italian fashion had better brace themselves for some bad news - the days of the super-cheap euro may be over. The currency is at its highest against the Singapore dollar in more than two years, up about 15 per cent from the 10-year low it hit in July 2012. One euro now buys $1.7651, compared with $1.5241 in July 2012. Or to put it another way, a cappuccino at an Italian cafe that would have cost about $4.60 then will now set you back about $5.30. The rise against the Singdollar is part of a broader gain in the euro, which has also moved up against the United States dollar and Japanese yen in the past two years, although it has dipped against the pound. Currency strategists say the rebound is largely due to more investor interest in Europe, now that the region has survived the Greek crisis intact and its economy appears to be improving. Mr Nizam...
