The throngs of people in China usually bring about rage and unadulterated bouts of fury from luxury brands no thanks to the ever-burgeoning fake goods industry there, but Shanghai Tang wants to take the Chinese back where they belong – on bicycles, albeit this time, very expensive ones. While Shanghai Tang’s products have always been inspired by the orient – they’ve taken it a step further. Their menswear designer Armele Barbier inspired by the swarms of black bicycles that invade the streets of China everyday, together with Dutch bicycle maker Colossi Cycling have come up with a range of fixed gear bicycles in black with orange-and-fuchsia accents. We're not sure Mao would have approved (or known how to brake). The design may have been kept almost tone-on-tone to make sure that reference to the iconic Chinese black bicycle is not diluted, but the price tag (from about SGD...
