in 2005 and became involved with the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation the following year. After the emotional journey my family and I took during his treatment and subsequent death, I needed to do something positive to honor his life and help others facing this cruel and perplexing disease. I reached out to the AA&MDSIF with the idea of having a 5 mile memorial walk for my Dad that would raise money and awareness for the foundation. My hope was to bring my family and friends together on the one year anniversary, because I knew that day would be difficult. My thought was, “Let’s celebrate his life!” He loved social gatherings, so what better way to celebrate?
