Thanks for airing your thoughts on my blog. I spoke to the Nandos team and they shared with me that the chicken they used have always been from a halal supplier. In the past, they were not halal certified because they were serving alcohol. From a business perspective, the muslim community has a limited number of halal restaurant food choices. It is a strategic business move to penetrate into the muslim market, thus the move to get a halal certification. At this stage, you'll already notice that the brand has reached out to a new group of customers, leaving other non - halal competitors like Tony Romas, Kenny Rogers etc in the backseat.
