Paintings, sculptures, and... tea.

Like any other art form, ceramic art has evolved and changed for many years. Sometimes it takes an artist like Seattle-based Katie Marks of Silver Lining Ceramics to remind you that original, totally inventive forms of a traditional art do exist. (And also that Youtube is a great place to start for any art – she taught herself to throw by watching videos!) What I love most about Katie’s work is not just that her pieces can also take the forms of paintings or sculpture or even illustration, but that something as commonplace as a mug can know no bounds; it can contain hand-sculpted crystals and gold accents and yet remain perfect for your morning cup of tea! The Silver Lining Ceramics shop is gaining popularity and these coveted pieces are hard to get your hands on – it’s inspiring to see an admired artists’ work take off!
