My First Raffle

{New Blog Post} My First Raffle: I put on a nice dress and do my part for a good cause..

My friend Laurence invited me to a raffle. I have never been to a raffle before and had to ask around to understand how it worked. So apparently we buy raffle tickets with serial numbers on them. All the numbers are thrown into a bowl for the draw. And winners get to take home some sweet sponsored items. It was a glamorous cocktail party and 50 ladies came decked in their best cocktail dresses. I was thrilled to dress up. I haven’t put on foundation in a while. Heh heh. The cause was to raise funds for a pre-school called Thokozani School in Diepsloot, one of the largest townships (squatter settlements) in Johannesburg. This was a bunch of girls with big hearts. Unfortunately, I was stuck in the crazy Joburg peak hour traffic for 2 hours and was exhausted by the time I arrived. All I cared about was downing some nice chilled wine to soothe my tired soul.
